Please read the following Scripture–Daniel 9:4-19.
Early Thursday mornings I meet with a group of men to pray for revival. We need it so badly. As we began this past week, we read the Scripture from Daniel 9 above. Have you ever thought how much the days in which we live were like the days in which Daniel lived?
Is this not a day of confusion? Have we not trespassed against the Lord? Is there not confusion in the leadership of our country? Have we not rebelled against God? Have we disobeyed the voice of the Lord? The answer clearly is–yes.
That being the case, can we not expect judgment to follow? We can expect a curse to be poured upon us. We can expect to be overtaken with a great evil. God always judges disobedience. Is there any hope for America? Certainly, God always blesses obedience.
The sad part about this passage of Scripture is that it is mentioned, “…yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God….” We must turn from our iniquities and turn to the truth.
Daniel went to battle on behalf of his nation – a nation that turned her back on the only hope she had. America is a country bathed in sin and ripe for the judgment of God. Daniel interceded and took responsibility for his nation’s sin. He looks to the past and how God worked by bringing the children of Israel out of Egypt. He calls for God to hear his desperate prayer and see the impossible need. He calls upon God to extend His great mercy. He pleads with God for forgiveness – not for Jerusalem, but for God’s own sake.
I wonder what would happen if America would truly repent and return to her God. I posted a similar article on another website and was left with the comment that America is doing just fine and there is still a loud voice in America making a difference in the world. I am sorry, but that just is not the case. We have not separated between the holy and the profane (Ezekiel 22:26). We continue in the Christian church to become more like the world with each passing day.
If you do not see that, my friend, I am afraid you may be part of the problem. It is high time for America to awake and seek her God. The day is coming when He will not be found (Isaiah 55:6). Now is the time to make a difference. We can spare our country a little while longer if we get our priorities straight. It is not about us, it is all about Him. O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake. Please hear the cry of Your people.
